In her book, Eva Scrivo on Beauty, hairstylist and makeup artist Eva Scrivo discusses how slight variations in bangs can balance facial features. Here are some of her tips that you and your hairstylist can experiment with:

“If a blunt bang is kept a bit longer at the temples, the look is more blended, softer, and slimming since it directs the eye downward.

Cutting those edges shorter at the temples makes a thin face look wider.

Keeping the midpoint of the bang (in between the brows) a tiny bit longer can direct the eye inward and make wide-set eyes look not so far apart.

For someone with close-set eyes, cutting that center part slightly shorter and texturing it to remove a bit of weight will create the illusion of more space in the center of the face and of larger, wide-set eyes.”

She also explains that cutting bangs just above the brows will emphasize the eyes while a longer bang that hits below the brows brings attention to the lips.

Her book is filled with many great hair, makeup, and fashion tips. Eva also has two salons in New York City, and her website has a photo gallery of hairstyles including lovely bridal styles. On page 115 of the May 25, 2012 issue of All You magazine, there's a cute DIY project for making fabric flowers for flip-flops. The idea is from Melissa, and her blog 320 Sycamore. Melissa has great step-by-step instructions including where to purchase your flip-flops and what fabric to use. This would be a fun project for the summer months when the kids are on vacation.
